Don’t use social media

Learn self care! It is the best thing for you.

If you like to read about what’s bugging you, like I do, you are really in for a ride.

For one thing, they use medical jargon to tell you all about it. Depression is hard enough to understand without the overwhelming stress of the articles. They are scary enough to depress anyone.

Let me break some of it down for you.

You don’t even need a major episode in your life to get depressed. It can just happen. “Hello, it’s me, depression. I’ve come to live with you awhile.”

For some odd reason the chemicals in your brain have gone haywire. There are hundreds of reasons why it happens. Now you get to deal with it.

It’s like having acne or dandruff, sort of. You do the best you can to fix the problem. Some things work, some don’t.

Sixteen million people in America have depression. It’s common. You would think that we are really special, but no just common.

Here is the best way to help yourself

Here is the best route to take to help yourself, without the scary works like psycho therapy, which they are now changing to talk therapy. That sounds much better.

If you have been at this depression thing for a few months, it is time to pull up your britches and talk to your Doctor. Don’t be nervous or ashamed, they have heard it all before. They are just glad that you are talking to them so they can help.

Self Help and you

I know you don’t feel like it, but walking or working out 3 times a week for 30 minutes a session is great for you. It also helps reduce stress which is what you need, too. Join a gym or club and meet new people, too. Triple win.

Vitamin D is usually low in depressed people. It’s part of depression. Sit in the sun a while or use a mood lamp to work by. Supplements are great and sometimes your doctor will give you a prescription for vitamin D.

Good healthy eating is needed.

Dark colored vegetables are a great way to feed your body. The Mediterranean Diet can tell you how to do it and give you recipes. You can even have dark chocolate!!

Sugar is not good for you and yet depressive people crave it. I am a Dr. Pepper-aholic! I do crave sweets all the time and always have. Try to cut down on food full of sugar and then cut it out. So you will have something sweet and not like it at all. Too sweet!

Put yourself on a sleep schedule. Sleep is important to your brain.

Stay off social media as much as you can. You can not believe how fast social media and the news can take you down.

Slow yourself down and keep your stress levels as low as you can.

Find a hobby you like even if it’s hard to get started at first. You will get caught up in it fast.

Drink water!!!

Remember that one good friend is much better than 5 negative ones.

Try hard to take care of you, it will be worth it.
