Expand your imagination

An exercise in your head

My kind of exercise!

When you are sitting in a dark place, I want you to physically, with your mind, push until you have a clearer place to think. Sort of a form of meditation. Now expand your imagination.

Whatever you can come up with.

In your mind put some ideas in the clearer space. Think of “If I were not depressed (or lonely or whatever you are going through.)

“If I were not depressed what would I be doing?” See it in your mind like you are doing it right now.

Would you be calm and happy? Maybe writing; dancing; working; swimming; out with friends?

That image is what you focus on. Write it down or keep it in your head if you can. Do not let it be something dark and ugly. It can be as simple as just sitting in the sun and feeling it on your face. Mine would probably be reading or crocheting.

Imagine it in your mind

Now, keep that thought tucked away in your mind and when you feel like you’re sliding into a dark place, close your eyes and whip that sucker out!!!

Imagine it again in your mind and if you can, add to it.

You might still slip into that dark space, but maybe just not as deep or as long.

The more often you do this the better you will be at it and it will be your minds “go to” place.

Dream a little dream for me.
