When you do have some ok days, you need to know your limits. If you see something on TV that you think may send you backwards do not sit and watch it, even if other people are there. Go read a book in a connecting room or go in the kitchen and make snacks.
I do this a lot and it helps. No one said that you had to be in front of the TV. And no one said that you had to read a book you don’t like. Unless you’re still in school, then sorry, but you need to read it.
Depression is pure negativity. Remember that and tell yourself to Stop when you realize that you are thinking that way. Redirect your brain to better things. Like, if you need to do something and you are thinking I can’t do that, say Stop, then how is the best way I can get this done.
Now think about this, depression is the most common mental health disorder in the US. We are not even unique!

Did you know that usually depressive episodes last 6 to 8 weeks. We should be able to ask for help to get thru it. We are not unique and a couple months of help is not that hard.
Yes, I have had depression all of my life and I still use these tools to help me. It is my way of knowing my limits. Sometimes I even tell myself that something I need or want to do will only last 10-15 minutes. I can handle that. If not I go to the old how can I get this done faster.
Use your brain as a tool to help you and not just sit and listen to the negative thoughts..You are in control. It takes a little time and practice but it can be done.
Writing a blog is not easy, but I can usually get it done. If I can’t do it, it is one of my limits for that week. If you notice I have only missed two posts. Yay me!!!
When you get up in the mornings to go pee, brush your teeth while you’re in there. You will be surprised at what this one little thing can do for you. It takes a couple of minutes.
Train your brain. Push aside the negative thoughts and replace them with easy tasks. I’ve done it and you can too. Slow and easy wins the race.
