Talking can be a problem
Having no words to say or being just too unwilling to say them is a problem with depression.
Sometimes just being quiet is the way you want to be. Even loud noises can feel like your head is going to explode. Talking can be more of a chore than enjoyable.
It’s not that you don’t want to talk, it’s just plain too hard. Inside your head you can say plenty, but it’s usually kind of quiet, but even taking the breath to start talking is way too hard. I get that and thank goodness my friends get it, too. But, people without experiencing depression just don’t understand what we go thru.
If people tell you to “just get over it” or “get up and do something” have never had depression where your brain chemicals take over and make you just unable to do things.
Don’t get mad at them, it’s not their fault. Until they experience depression they just do not understand.
Some days I get up and think I’m going to get this done and do that. Well, Boy Howdy, my brain says “I don’t think so”. Other days, usually when you least expect it, you buzz around and get a ton of things done. That is always a shock to my system!
I feel like I have missed a good part of my life waiting on my brain to function. But, you can learn to deal with it. Sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and make it happen. Other times I put things off until “later”.
Don’t get mad at yourself and can yourself names. You are not “so stupid” or “such an idiot” when you can’t do something. It’s not your fault either.
Just think you are grateful for what you got. It can always be worse.
Be Grateful for depression??
Think of it this way. You could lose your eyesight, which is my worst fear in the whole world. Or, you could have a disease that really frightens you, like cancer or diabetes. There are many things worse than having depression. We need to make ourselves remember that, even when we are going through a really hard patch of depression.
I can’t tell you enough to go get help. You can feel better.
I’ve been on medication since my thirties. Do I get tired of it? Sure. It can take time and energy to find the right meds. But, sometimes the first one you try can work great.

Many, many people have depression. It’s like going to the doctor and saying, I keep having a headache everyday. What can I do about it?
Read up on the subject, when you can, and see just how common it is. Learn all you can about your enemy then use that knowledge to help yourself.
