School age kids have it hard now.
We are losing teens to suicide now more than ever. The best we can do for them is to talk. Don’t think that just because they are a moody teen they will be fine. Talk about school and friends, bullying and social media. Get them to talk and show that you you are interested and don’t give up. They will grumble and carry-on, let them, but don’t let them cop out.

Our teens today have it hard. Not only can they be getting bullied in school like we did, but, it also goes out onto social media. Everyone sees every little mistake they make now, but, those mistakes can be padded by the bullies. Teens are telling other teens to “just go kill yourself”. They actually make games up about it.
Check for chemical imbalances
Teens also inherit chemical imbalances at an early age. Check the family histories. Talk to them pointedly about suicide and how school will be over in a few years and things will change. Teens often feel like school is everything and nothing else matters. Remind them that life after school is what counts.

Do not let your teen, or younger person, stay in their rooms on social media. Depressive things are everywhere now. The news is all about killing people and negative things. We hear it from all over the world now, not just in your area of life.
If a school mate or friend of theirs does kill themselves, talk to your kids about it. Do not act like it didn’t happen. It did and everyone knows it. Talk.
TALK IT OUT
Maybe you are the only people that your teen will talk too. Don’t ignore the chance to bring suicide to the conversation.
Our younger kids are getting the idea of suicide also. It should be an ongoing topic. Yes, kids like to hole up in their rooms and that’s OK, as long as emotions are all out on the table and discussed.
Kids no longer grow up the way the parents did. They know everything and see everything, even if they don’t understand it.
Bullying in school or the bus can be deadly now.
Social media should be cut back as an important activity.
TV time needs to be on good wholesome things.
Talk to your children and be interested.
Especially if you start seeing problems!
