US Food—It’s what not to eat

Our US food is killing us. It contains way too much sugar. If sugar is listed as one of the top 5 ingredients don’t touch it.

Our food is full of sugar. We love it. Everything tastes great! But, it’s doing real bad things to our bodies. It is feeding our enemy which is depression among other things.

Sugar is more addictive than cocaine!

I am definitely a sugarholic! And this winter I have been on a real binge. People with depression can go either way. They eat way too much or are not hungry and eat little to nothing. I, of course, eat too much.

Sugar gives you belly fat which loops around all your organs and makes it hard for them to work. Heart disease is really a big one for belly fat. Oral hygiene is another problem with our American diet. With too much sugar, your teeth will rot out of your head. And here’s an eye opener, sugar feeds your depression to give you that sugar rush and then you crash and eat more.

All of this up and down rush and burn is not helping one thing in your body. Not one thing.

It adds to your belly fat. It coats your organs in fat. It contributes to high blood pressure and makes your headache and more sleepy, which is just what depressed people need. Not.

If you look at a can of soda there are 39 grams of sugar in that alone. We should only have 25 grams a day for women and 36 grams a day for men. If you look at labels and word with OSE on the end is sugar. Like glucose and fructose.

So what do we eat?

The best and easiest food we can eat is a Mediterranean Diet. It is whole foods that work for your body not against it. You can have carbs. They are just whole grains and natural sugars that do not spike your blood sugar that leads to making you feel worse.

Natural foods without added sugar. We as depressed people do not need to make things worse for ourselves. Did you now that there are 56 different names for suga? Scary!!

If you go on a diet that eliminates sugar, your cravings for it will be gone in about 2 weeks. And everything that you like now will be way too sweet for you after that.

There is natural sugar in fruits and vegetables that are all we need. Fruit and vegetables should make up most of your daily food.

I am going to try getting on the Mediterranean Diet and see how it goes for me. I will let you know. Right now my body aches and I want to sleep all the time, which is not like me at all.

Whole foods fruits and veggies, complex carbs, playing card size of meat and you will have a better time with your normal depression.

You can even have dark chocolate!!!
